RuneQuest Design Notes Update

By Dan Zappone August 13, 2017 2 Min Read

So I just noticed over on Chaosium’s Blog that a new design notes, Designing the new RuneQuest – Part 18, was posted.  You can see the new RuneQuest logo above.

One of the more interesting things about it is that according to the post (and it was brief), Chaosium will have 100 preview copies of the upcoming edition of RuneQuest on hand to give away.

And for those attending GenCon 50, here’s some ever better news: a preview edition of the new RuneQuest rules will be available at the Chaosium booth at GenCon. There’s only a one hundred of these available and they are only available at GenCon, so get your copy while supplies last.

RuneQuest Publication Progress

Of course, the most important news in the post is that the core rules are complete, and it’s now in final art and layout, so I guess we can expect to see it available on the Chaosium website sometime in the not-too-distant future.

As it is now, the release schedule is for physical copies of RuneQuest and the RuneQuest Bestiary to be available for purchase by Christmas 2017, and the PDFs will be available some months before. After that, the books should be available in your Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS) in the first quarter of 2018. They will also be releasing a Gamemaster’s Screen and Pack, which includes a scenario, the GM screen, cult information sheets for the players (which should be helpful in choosing which Rune Spells to cast), Gloranthan maps, and a Gloranthan calendar.  All of this should be available for ordering in time for Christmas 2017.

In the meantime, you can get a taste of it with the RuneQuest Roleplaying in Glorantha Quickstart, which is available from Chaosium’s website for free.  It contains all you need to start collecting all the essential rules in abbreviated form.

To help you along, we’ve created some RQ character sheets, which you can also grab right here.
